At Conder Elementary, students were challenged with at driving question: How can we as hydroponic farmers of microgreens build water filtration systems so that our picky plants can continue to grow? Students explored this concept through science, technology, engineering, art and math. They were engaged in lessons on water filtration and the water cycle in an effort to implement innovative strategies to increase academic achievement through the arts, core content and solving real-world problems. Prior to today, students used prior knowledge of hydroponics to grow microgreens in their classroom and gained a new understanding of water filtration both naturally and through man made systems.
